166 sat nav/phone/clock failure

Help my sat nav/phone/clock have all failed.
I have pulled out the front unit but no loose connections.
Is it the head unit or the CD box in the boot that has failed?
When I go to navigation window I have the message 'temperature out of range'.
Using the dark/LH knob I have the following data:
ICS-HW: 2/2 SLAVE V1044DIF
ICS-SW: ICS V5.41 13:56159
ICS - DATE: NOV 2 2000/Old MMI
Audio-SW: 03:00 20/99 Europe
DSP-HW/SW: 3/14 E00 E00 Y00
DRV: left hand
NAVI-SW: Ver. ARNA 629D
NAVI-DB: UK/186022732
Ph-SW: Error (suspect this identifies phone error)
AC: 0.00/0.00/0.00

I have all the data from the Becker and Siemens units if this helps too.
I receive no satellite info or position on the navigation screen.
The phone keeps flashing phone failure
the clock reads a time that is noy accurate.

It failed over a period of approx 3 months - working for a few days then failing, then working again - unfortunately I now have total failure.

I have taken some photos to show how the head unit is removed by usinf a screwdrive to push in 2 metal clips either side of the head unit.

Any help would be appreciated as the 3 dealers I have visited didn't seem capable of even accessing the head unit - and could not see the unit on diagnostic machine.

The car was originally a new import.

Sounds like the ariel on the roof has gone. They are very prone to breaking down, and if you have the fully intergrated phone system too, which has the external ariel housed with the gps reciever in the roof ariel, and both systems aren't working and you can't get the time and date, for which you need the gps signal, good chance it is the ariel thats gone. An absolute pig to change too! sorry!

Re: 166 sat nav/phone/clock failure

Mmmm, I may have a similar issue. However, I have tested the phone in mine and it's working fine, but the clock is way out and all the menu's to adjust it are greyed out on the ICS. I do have the nav in my car, but the CD disc in it is missing, so it never boots up. Does anyone know if the nav needs to boot up off this disc before it acquires the satellites, or should it do it anyway, even without the disc?

Cheers!

i'd guess it probably needs the disc as it's more than just maps on it AFAIK...

Re: 166 sat nav/phone/clock failure

Alternatively, you can discinect your navi system (pull the plug in the boot). Now You get acess to the clock functions on the setup menu, alowing you to adjust the clock or selct RDS function where the clock recieves info from the rds system.

With Navi system conected the clock is suposed to get info from the satelites, however if no disk or faulty areals, the navi system does not boot up and hence no clock info

Thanks Rune - I will give that a go at the weekend. Until I get a disc it's pointless having the nav connected, anyway!
