Not Happy Nightmare

The old girl is giving me the run around at present, little minx that she is.

3 months back the starter packs up and if you have ever seen where they on on these you will know what a headache that is. Didn't have time to do it myself so, booked her into to Clovertech for a new one.
Got her back and ..........

Approximately 2 months ago the clutch decided to meet its maker with a bit of help from my right foot resulting in the usual Alfa tow home!

So off to Rusper Alfa for a nice shiney new clutch for her, whilst there i had my new steering wheel put on. However whilst in the air the guys noticed the two rear adjustable arms were well knackered. In for a penny, in for a pound, ohh go on then replace them as well and retrack her.

Get the car back again and it is transformed the whole drive, the old clutch must have been so out of balance it was unreal and the handling is 100% better.

HOWEVER whilst driving her home the brake fluid level indicator came on . . .mmhh strange, have a check, fluid is fine, short the sensor, no light. New cap it is then.

Next day the exhaust hanger decided to go meet the clutch in heaven!

Never mind, i am replacing parts as i go to keep her tip top.

Driving home yesterday and the top hose on the coolant (which looked quite recently replaced) decides my bonnet should have a water feature and once again hazards on and on the phone. Lucky my brother Moyneseyt5 has a 'Leaf so i nicked his pipe to get her home!!!

All new parts are on order and due in tomorrow ready to fit Friday whilst i re set my rear brakes.

Don't you just love your Alfa, no matter what she does i love her to bits. Its all worth it for that 1 week every year when she runs perfect

"Racing is life, everything before and after is just waiting" Steve McQueen knew the truth!

Not another set of tyres!!!

We are all seriously demented, because you're absolutely right - having waded through the list of things to be fixed, and forked out for bills with more noughts than your paycheck, you forget all about it on that one drive where the old girl puts on her dancing shoes, and reminds you how to tango !

Re: Nightmare

Yeh! Your right! It just gets to the point where you actually reserve £200 out your wages per month to buy something!

Re: Nightmare

I like the reserving money bit, how to try that one!

I'd rather push an Alfa than drive a BMW!

Re: Nightmare

Nice to see someone else in the "I spend for the sake of it" club. I've had mine for about 4 years and I am over £8,000 poorer including tyres. Have to say though I wouldn't have had it any other way...could have had any car but would have had similar deprecriation and a lot less fun for what would have been a lot more in initial purchase price. I've got another circa £750 due on it soon as well, time for new cambelt/pulleys and a bunch of other stuff to keep it tip top.

If I had a spare £20k then I would go for a 400bhp M5 but until then I'll keep it running sweet.

Great minds... what a pity Alfa doesn't make an M5 competitor, though I must say I've always lusted after one of the Novitec twin turbo 164s - pity they don't still make the kits.

Re: Nightmare

maybe if they make a baby masseratti in the guise of a 169 we'll have an alternative to an M5

Re: Nightmare

Yes I TOO have the cambelt as the next item on the list!

Personal opinion on a saloon car if money was no object goes to the new Maserati Quadroporte in silver, not the best but what a car.

Meanwhile back on earth.................

Re: Nightmare

Just spent the weekend with a chap who wants to buy one (lucky barstuard) and he says it's a soft version of a 612 Scaglietti. Had to agree with him really, especially if he does buy it or I won't get a ride!!!!
