245-45-17 Tyres on ALFA166?

Hi

I'm owner of a 166 2,5 - does any body know if I can fit 245-45-17 on the backwheels? front wheels I will stick to the 235-45-17 I guess.

Re: 245-45-17 Tyres on ALFA166?

Why not go with 225 45 R17? I think this is the recommended size for the standard 17" rims. I'm not sure if you will get a bigger contact patch with the wider tyres - they will be nosier, and may tramline though! The wider tyres will have a more aggressive look. The 235's might be OK...

Re: 245-45-17 Tyres on ALFA166?

I'm running 235´s now - but have 2 pcs. of 245´s on hand very cheap

I think I stick to the 235ér. Especially in the front I would surely not benefit from wide tyres.

Thanks

I'd keep away from cheap tyres! Bad rears (especially) could cause all sorts of problems...

Re: 245-45-17 Tyres on ALFA166?

Wider tyres on slim alloys will not do anything good for the driving characteristics of the car. And remember that 245/45 will be a larger wheel than 225/45, height being 45% of 245 rather that of 225. In DK up to 5% deviation from specification is allowed but it will make the car feel markedly slower (and more wobbly) but I do not think different tire sizes betw. front and back axle are allowed - and for good reason as it could potentially change the steering characteristics of the car dramatically. And you also have to ensure that the tyres will fit within the wheen arch. So - not a good idea

Chilling Re: 245-45-17 Tyres on ALFA166?

basically I agree. For the record in DK it is allowed to have different size of tyres on front and rear axle - as long as the 5% are kept.

Dejligt at andre danskere har fundet vej til dette forum.

Peter
