Help 166 Baby/Child Seat

I had a interesting visit to mothercare today, looking for a new child seat we were unable to find one. This was in no part due to the fixed rear head restraints in the 166. Do any of you guys have any experience of child seat fitting in a 166,

Lets just think were looking at the pinacle of the alfa range and i cant find a way to let my 1 year old sit safly in the back(Boolocks)! HELP

Same problem with the 164. It took me a while to find something that would be narrow enough to fit. Most seats are designed for big fat bench type seats but our Alfa's are more figure hugging and that's where you get problems. I gave up in the ned and padded out the seat with towels and some foam. Worked OK and the seat didn't slip around. I've finally swapped out both kids seats for a set with the latest EC certification and these have a nice narrow base that fits snugly. FINALLY I feel comfortable that the kids are as safe as possible. You have to look around!

Re: 166 Baby/Child Seat

I am using a Recaro child seat in my 156 without problems. I know its expensive - 7 years ago it cost me about £250 including optional feet rests - but it will last a long time as it is fully adjustable from 9 months to 12 years of age. My 10 year old still uses it and prefers it to sitting on the seat direct. The new model (start) even has built in speakers and pocket for a walkman/mp3 player so that the child will not be hit by the flying player in the event of hard braking!

After 7 years of use it still looks (almost) like new and being made by Recaro, I don't even have to mention the quality.

Re: 166 Baby/Child Seat

I know this was already mentioned in the old thread but i also used the maxi-cosi prior xp in my 166 and it was an excellent fit. I have also used a britax seat that had a seatbelt tensioner similar to that on the xp, although the fit was not as snug due to the britax having a wider base.
Cheers Carlos

Dennis,

Maxi Cosi Priori XP fits my 166 -just need to use a seat protector to stop indentations.

Re: 166 Baby/Child Seat

Thats good news , the seat we had in the wifes 156 broke. We had a trip to Mothercare and the only seat we could get to fit was the Maxi Cosi Priori XP, she's got the Recaro leather interior so bucket tyoe seats in the back.
I've not tried it in my 166 yet but from what you and a few others have told me there shouldn't be a problem.
