166 swapped for a Skoda

Thank god it's only while the rear bumper gets sorted from its ramming 3 weeks ago.

Apart from being the most boring dashboard & interior in history, it seems a solid little car - will give it a good thrashing for a few days & see how it feels then.

Of course not, it is always nice with a spare car when you have to "usual" maintenance on your A-R.
As I told my friends the other day, when they laughed at my A-R and the almost broken turbo. I said it is not good to drive in so much style every day so once in a while an A-R driver needs to be on foot.

Re: 166 swapped for a Skoda

OMG it's crap & good all in one

It's a Skoda Fabia Classic 1.2 12v petrol

Build quality - good (couple of minor rattles)
Ride quality - good
Steering - light & quite positive
Handling - good grip, no feeling for limits of tyres (which squeal nicely tho')
Engine - absolute ****e - no guts, 6000 rpm limiter, sounds like a 1980's diesel
Soul - none

Comparing it with my 2nd car (1998 punto 1.2 16v) - punto has crap ride, crap build quality, equal steering, much more fun handling with good feeling from tyres, lovely revvy howling FIRE engine, Soul - loads.

So, whilst I can appreciate how the Skoda makes a really good score on JD Power surveys etc., I couldn't live with one & still remain interested in driving

Might have been more interested to try a vRS (octavia pref.)

don't mention Z4
