Re: What do you think of the Alfa 164?

I was looking round for a new car to replace my T/S as she was passed ecconomical repair ( not mech, just the clearcoat and wheels) and after much searching found it almost impossible to match in a modern car, result was I put my "spares car" a 3.0 v6 lusso back on the road as my daily driver.
It has been poly-bushed all round so not as much roll in the twisty bits, and the noise when she gets over 3500rpm is a joy.

Yes, I've just discovered that! In Devon on holiday, a well-remembered mini-roundabout that my Omega handles OK, I rather embarassingly had to do a several-point turn on Sidmouth seafront, in front of several hundred amused onlookers...

Alfa 156 v6

Re: What do you think of the Alfa 164?

Own a 96 24v Cloverleaf.
Agree with what you guys have said. These are great alfas but I can only compare to 156 V6 a friend owns.
Mine has cost me loads recentley as shes just clocked over 151k.
Eveytime somethig goes wrong if found myself facing a 500 quid plus bill.
In just over 3 years cost me over 3k in repairs and general maintanance including brakes tyres etc.
Dont want to put anybody off buying one, just make sure you have sufficient funds for things like Timing belt/Clutch replacment as these cost mega money as I found out(approx 1k for both inc labour &VAT).
Clock segments on central LCD display on m,ine are broken and somtimes the thing goes awol altogether,at the moment most of its working.
You cannot expect all the electrics to work all of the time on a 10+ year old alfa.
I tend to think you buy an Alfa for its looks, fantastic sound especially in V6 form.
Cant think of anything out there you can buy for silly money that offers same performance, its looks are and added bonus.
156 V6 is better built more nimble but cant match performance.
