164 Centre Console re-wire

Is there anyone still doing this? I've taken out the old one which had a slightly dodgy display and the top row of buttons broken.

I've now put in a new one with all the buttons working a treat, but the display is even worse. Is there anyone who can get one working, then I'll swap round, then get the other working, then, assuming I've got two working, I'll happily sell one on?

Edit: And why is it only the climate control one that's like this? My TSpark one is absolutely fine and it's exactly the same age. *touch wood*

He repaired mine for me and it is still 100% perfect 3 years on, he can expalin why they fail and why his repair is so much better than even a new unit. As you probably know, a new unit will set you back well over £1,000
