Re: alfa 166 ics code

Hi there was a post about this. You can read it from the ics unit, you will have to take it out to read it. See this link and welcome to the forum.

Re: alfa 166 ics code

Try contacting the dealer who originally sold the car (might be on the handbook, or the service history. They may have kept a record of the ICS code.
If they haven't, they can send details of your unit (you'll need to take it out again for them to look at) to Becker in Germany who will take bl**dy ages to find the number (think months, not days) and will then charge you about £15-£20 for a replacement number.

Are you sure you checked the side of the ICS unit? It will save you a lot of hassle.

Re: alfa 166 ics code

Yeah go to Alfa dealer. They'll cherge you but they can usually get the codes back same day. The company that holds them usually send paperwork confirmation. You'll need the V5 ( or whatever is the equivalent these days) and proof of your ID/residence.

Re: alfa 166 ics code

Hmm had the same thing bought couple of satnav units with out codes
Went to local ALFA Dealer and they noted the serial numbers then
8 weeks later had the codes (costed me 33 € each )
Then one code turend out to be faulty and had to go back and waited for 3 weeks (why faster ???? ) to get it .

so good luck

But in you case goto dealer who sold the car originally they might have them stashed some where

Hmmm Re: alfa 166 ics code

Hi, I recently swapped the battery on my wifes 166 only to discover the ICS code was missing. I contacted my local Alfa Dealer (and many others) with the chassis number only to be told that they could not obtain this. The car originated from the Republic of Ireland and hit Mainland UK when it was 6 months old.
It was then sold twice through the Alfa dealer network and I honestly can't beleive that in this day and age, Alfa don't keep records of this code. I even contacted the original supplying dealer in Dublin and they don't keep records either.
I have tonight, removed the unit from the car and unfortunately I dont have the sticker with the code on it.
How the F**k do I get the code for it? I've been a big Alfa fan for many years and put up with all sorts of S**t but this really is taking the P**s.
Please, please, please any help or advice greatly appreciated.
Thanks guys, in advance.

Re: alfa 166 ics code

i'm pretty sure alfa can get the code from becker if you give them the serial number - takes a while though

I got the code (on a card-board code card) from the dealer and it was not the one who originally sold the car. It cost me 15 DKK (1.2£). So, any authorised dealer can get the code for you - at least here in DK. I also got the mechanical code to start the car if the immobilizer does not recognize the code transmission from the key.
BtW since it´s the garage I normally use they did not require any paperwork and it took only a couple of days.

I didn't have a code for my ICS either, but after calling all the dealers, local and the original dealer, I had no luck. So my local Alfa specialist managed to get me the code from Becker. Didn't take them weeks mind you!! The guys took the ICS unit out to get the serial number and called it into Becker.
I think I got the code of them the next day or so.

Give them a call, they will do it for you if you give them all the details:

Re: alfa 166 ics code

All Alfa specialists get the code from the same back-end system and this thread only goes to show that - as usual - good specialists will do a better job. If a specialist can´t get a code, which is a simple enough job, within a week think about how you as an Alfa owner will fare if you ask them to do something difficult....My garage, which is here in DK, told me that it is not uncommon for people to loose the code-card, but since most type it in the manual or somewhere else, they don´t bother. The problem comes for the next owner who never knew the code in the first place and most forget to ask when buying a used car. So, they´re seeing quite a few of these requests for info. about the code and it can be obtained within a few days - even printed on an original Alfa Code Card which I wanted ´cause it looks better....:-)
