Heater Leaks

Well Well , the unthinkable has happened , just when I was about to re licence the 164 for the summer I discovered a leak , well a pool of water on the passenger footwell!!!!!!
This area was wet last year ,at that time I put it down to water drainage or the lack of it, and sealed up a few obvious places, buyt the car was in a garage so how could this be , it was in fact the heater matrix , not common I am told. H ave you seen how difficult it is to take the matrix out????
I got a hold of some stuff called K-Seal and it seems to have done the trick------- fingers crossed.
Moreto the point I have licenced the car and oh what joy!!!!!!:

Re: Heater Leaks

Hi Pat

It's a common job for cars of this age. Matrix is a pretty easy job with DIY know how and a few tools. It's located and accessed just above and behind engine inside engine bay, probably take you a few hours and the part is still available and not wildly expensive.

Idea Re: Heater Leaks

Yes hello Mike I am well aware of its position in the car but when you are just looking forward to getting the car on the road after a lay-off I have `nt got too mach enthusiasm, especially when you have just charged the aircon etc.!
However if it goes through the summer then perhaps I might tackle it !

Cheers PAT
