Idea best mods for a 164 super?

just preplanning my next purchase, its a 164 3L super.
Ive just fitted uprated shocks, new bearings to front shocks and uprated springs to my 164 2L TS, so I figure all that little lot is going to have to come off again and go on the super.
My thoughts are:-
Squadra chip - read good reports on these
Air filter (wonder if the new powerflow induction ive fitted to the TS will fit?)
Exhaust - any ideas?
Superflex bushes - have just fitted these to the TS and they work well - going to have to fit a new set, cant imagine getting them off again!
Brakes - any ideas?
Simple engine mods - any ideas?

look forward to hearing from y'all

2l twinspark 164,powerflow induction kit,new shockers, spax sports spring, superflex bushes - now with bashed in front wing, bumper, inner arch liner ouch!

Re: best mods for a 164 super?

Were the superflex bushes okay to fit, I've heard one has to press some into the housings. My TS needs a complete set at the rear.
Where did you get yours from if I may ask?

squadra chip and cloverleaf intake runners apparently gets you a 230bhp cloverleaf engine..

Re: best mods for a 164 super?

Just the intake runners will give you the 230bhp you're after. The squadra chip gives you a bit more. I'm looking into a set of GTA intake cams to give me a solid 12 to 15 bhp more (that with runners is worth around 245 bhp). I'm avoiding remapped chips for now and may go for something a bit more personal than off-the-shelf once all the serious mods are done.

Re: best mods for a 164 super?

The rear bushes are easy (after youve burnt the old ones out!)

Got them direct from Superflex in somerset - look on their web site they only do the rear swinging arm bush.
The front bushes are a b*st*rd to fit - I had to use a hydraulic press on the big ones - easier to get a garage to do it!

If you cannot find contact details for superflex let me know Im sure I will find it somewhere

Re: best mods for a 164 super?

No such thing as a 12 valve Super (unless it's a V6 Turbo). So I'm guessing it's a 12v base or Lusso maybe? You can't fit the 24v intake runners directly as the head configuration is very different. In any case, the plate and inlet ports would need to be opened up to notice any benefit. To convert a 12v V6 into a QV (200bhp) you need to change cams and a few other things. The reason why the 24v engines gives you the extra horses is because the non QV engine was restriced to 210 bhp by making the runners 6mm narrower in the middle. The ends are actually 45mm (44.5mm to be precise). A trick used by the FIA to restrict engine power in some categories.

164 Super V6 24v | QV Modificatta 230bhp | Nero | Zender Stars 245x35x17 | Original 'Alfa by Zender'

Just read this after my post... They are exactly the same on the 12v base and QV engines. Get yourself a set of sports cams, that should do the trick!
