Re: Will a 75 America engine go into a 164???
Ultimately it's to do with cost. Do I repair, or do I convert. I still have the option of buying an engine which is ultimately the cheaper bet.
Here's what I got from 164 Discussions:
Change the oil pan, crank pulley and flywheel.
Oil pump assembly with nut and washer to hold gear to pump shaft.
Both heads/cams as you need left cam/head set up to mount distributor and right head to mount top dog bone plate to studs in head behind cam pulley.
Aux shaft with oil pump gears and timing belt pulley in right head different from 75.
Engine block different too up front as you need studs in block to mount front engine mount for A/C compressor/alternator that will be hard to install to a 75 block.
I think that is the most of it but it is easier to convert a 164 engine to 75 engine configuration than other way around.
