Rear suspension again and Speaker question
Right. Got everything done (Thanks fitter friend). Took car for MOT again. Failed because of rear bushes (seen it up on the ramp, they're definitely gone, though I wish the original garage had pointed this out). The garage want to replace the arm as well as the bush because they say that the bushes can be a sod to get off and that it'll only need doing again in a year's time if I only do the bushes). Is this right? As the arms themselves look okay and it's going to cost another £130 for another two.
Ignore the above, spoken to Steve at Mangoletsi and he's sorted me out. Okay, so a new question now:
Are the rear speakers regular 6x9s? And how do I get the plasticky box covery thingy off to put new ones in?
Ignore above, just had a look and they pull off. They are regular 6x9s.
So my only remaining question is if I want to put an amp in the boot, where's the best place to run the cable?
All help, as ever, greatfully received!

Re: Rear suspension again and Speaker question
Hi BN
Me again.
Glad you got sorted (yes it is a pity you didn't know about the bushes first).
Anyway, when I ran cables to the boot, I ran them from the front:
across the top of the passenger footwell (under/behind the glovebox);
remove carpet/trim/doorseal from lower a-panel;
run wire under passenger step trim (either remove trim and place wire in recess or prise up and feed wire under) all the way to the rear seat;
remove rear part of the rear door seal and remove plastic covering that runs allong and up the side of the seat;
remove the rear quarter trim (plastic bung covers the screw), you may have to remove the rear grap handle/coat hook as well);
once this q-trim is removed, you should see a hole which will run into the boot - if you use some sturdy wire, you should be able to either feed this through the hole into the boot or from the boot into the car.
(it is a bit fiddley but I have done it by myself, though it would be easier with two people).
By the way, you will need to pull back the boot carpet above the rear passenger shock, as this is where the wire feeds.
Hope this helps.

Re: Rear suspension again and Speaker question
That's a great help, thanks, is it as fiddly as it sounds?
Also, I'm not a great expert on stereos, is it okay to run the rear speakers on an amp, but keep the front speakers running from the stereo? Only, four channel amps are more expensive, obviously, and I would have to run the front speaker wires back down to the front.

it all depends wether the speakers you plan to use can take the power from the amp.....other than that, it shouldnt be a problem

Just takes a little patience. After you do it once, it's like shelling peas.
Cheers

ie, takes forever and is an absolute chore! I don't mind taking my time as long as the bits come out easily and I don't end up snapping bits of trim.
Thanks once again for putting me in touch with Mangoletsi, they've managed to locate and send me a reverse light switch in two days. It's so far taken my local stealer 18 months and they haven't found one yet!
mr.orange cheers, the speakers and amp are quite well matched, I'm just wondering if it'd sound terrible using the head unit to power the front speakers if the rear speakers are going to be powered with a more powerful and better quality amp.

Not to worry, just take your time and all will be well. Do any reqired prising gently with a decent screwdriver and nothing will snap. Promise
