166 Facelift!!
I was at my local sainsburys today and parked next to an 05 plate 166 with the new front and i have to say i didn't like it. The older front end is so much better and looks much more elegant. Im glad i have the old one!!
Any thoughts??

Re: 166 Facelift!!
I know exactly what you're saying. The early 166 looks better in person than on paper whereas the facelift has the opposite effect funnily enough.
I always thought that when the 164 became the Super, it looked much more ellegant. Alfa thought so too as they continued the early theme on the QV's.
The 166 facelift just seems so pointless. It was a like a last minute idea to try to hike sales and male the 166 fall in line with the rest of the brand. It's like the GTV and Spider. Why the hell did they facelift them???!!!

Re: 166 Facelift!!
I for one love the facelift model, it took me a long time to come round to liking the phase one version. I am glad I bought one, but can't wait for the facelift 3.2 to reach affordable money.
As a side note, i've yet to see a facelift on the road.

Looking at some of the UK prices, a facelift 3.2 should reach affordable money........

Someone on this forum has a 3.2 facelift I seem to remember. Thats the closest I've come to seeing one in use! Am watching their second hand values with interest!

Re: 166 Facelift!!
I saw a 166 TS facelift with 6K on the clock advertised @ Desira Ipswich for about £12k. Not bad for an 04 car.
As for the 3.2, they seem to stick around £20k even for ex demo ones. I heard Alfa sold ~26 166s last year so they will be pretty rare cars!

Just wait a couple of years, as stated in a earlier post, a fully loaded 3.2 Lusso is currently being advertised for under £18K

Re: 166 Facelift!!
I've always loved the back of the 166, but had a real problem with the front. It makes it look a bit French (like a Citroën rather than a frenchman!) with droopy eyes. The facelifted one looks absolutely stunning IMO and it should always have looked like this.

Re: 166 Facelift!!
Although I had a 166 (which I loved) the front end always bugged me - it reminded me of the Proton front end! Besides, those tiny headlights are really puny. It would be the facelift for me anytime.

Re: 166 Facelift!!
i'm torn between them to be honest - used to think the original 166 was ugly as sin but in the flesh it is a very hansome car and definitely grows on you. The new one is good but i'm not sure its quite as "different" as the original is and i think it's lost a wee bit of its individuality.
Saying that, i'd have a facelifted 3.2 in a flash
Cheers
Niall

Re: 166 Facelift!!
I've recently read in a car mag (can't remember which one sorry) that AR is discontinuing the 166 .... so you'll not have to wait to long for "affordable prices" I personally think the new front end is something the 166 has been longing for, I recently seen one at my local dealers and on first glance thought it was the new 159....gutted when I realised it wasn't

My information is no more right hand drive 166's being produced due to low sales especially because no diesel sold here, hence big discounts on remaining stock. Picked up my 3.2 for £21000(£31000 full price incl.options) from Jamjar and in brunello red it looks fantastic and is a superb drive.Hope I have avoided some of the dire depreceation!!

Pretty much the same price as pre-registered ones, but brand new

Re: 166 Facelift!!
its a real shame that they can't sell more of them - i think the lack of a diesel has really hurt in recent times. Hope it doesn't have an impact on any future RHD big alfas - where would we be wthout them?!?
