Well, as the title says, it's time to sell my Super Lusso.

113500 miles from new, unmarked cream leather, Alfa Zender sports kit wit 17" wheels. Very smooth car, drives exceptionally well.

Body kits can only make your vehicle more appealing to some but never worth more on a used car market. Used market value is what it is regardless of what you've added to the car. But then you do get the occasional nutter who will pay more "cause it looks bling innit, yeah".

I personally think if you are going to buy a 166 it has to have the kit. It makes the car!!

I think the kit makes a really good difference to the car. However, even if it cost two grand to buy, it wouldn't add a grand to the value of the car.

Saying that, anything is worth what other people will pay for it, so although I wouldn't pay an extra grand for the body kit, somebody else might.

Have just done a quick price search. What Car based on true mileage comes in at £2236.00. Parkers based on 50K mileage only is £4305.00. In the ballpark

I have a similar car to yours, but it's only a baby with 31,000 miles done. Just interested to know what I have to look forward to in terms of major things going wrong. (So far it has been totally reliable over three years!!). How often did you change the cam belts? And what are you going to replace it with? I find it hard to think of anything I'd rather have, and now that the V6 has apparently gone out of production I don't ever want to let it go.

I have a similar car to yours, but it's only a baby with 31,000 miles done. Just interested to know what I have to look forward to in terms of major problems. Mine has been totally reliable over three years, believe it or not! How often did you change the cam belts? And what are you going to replace it with? Now that the V6 has apparently gone out of production, I don't ever want to let mine go!

I think that most people would confirm prices with Glass's guide or Cap, rather than Whatcar. Glass's guide for a 166 Superlusso with 120k miles on a 2000 plate would trade at £3850 and retail at £6650 (! ?) Glass's code YQMK. I am asking £4995 and would accept £4500. I think this is fairly reasonable.

Don't know if it's of interest but I just upgraded from my old 155 to a 166 2001 Y reg 3.0 V6 Super Lusso Auto which is fully loaded. It's done 103k miles and is immaculate FARSH etc. The guy I bought it from put 40k motorway miles on it last year and treated very well. That cost me £4,570 privately.

Regarding body kit etc my view is that these kind of aftermarket add ons actually reduce the price because they suggest that the car is likely to have been messed around with and so may be hiding a multitude of sins. If it is wearing a body kit and non-standard alloys the cautious buyer may infer that whoever has put it on may have a heavy right foot and has probably tried chipping the engine etc.

I paid a little more for mine because it had been used by a family man who had had it serviced by the book and undergone nothing worse than stone chips and yoghurt on the back seat from his kids.

I think I would tend to agree with you in part. My Alfa came from the factory, with the factory approved and supplied bodykit, wheels and suspension. I don't think it adds anything to the value, however, when I was looking to buy a 166, it had to have the kit because I felt it improved the look of the car. So I would agree that it is personal preference but doesn't add to the value, although it might help mine to stand out from the crowd slightly.
