Not an Alfa :-(

How long does a MAF last?

And how long is a piece of string, while we're at it?

I've done 75k miles in my TwinSpark, and although I haven't noticed anything amiss, I wonder whether a failing MAF is gradual (i.e. will I notice at all over time?)

So, from the wealth of experience on here, when have people changed theirs, what is the general consensus on lifespan and is it in actuality a service item?

Thanks in advance!

Herein may lie the answer.

Irv: Derice, a gold medal is a wonderful thing. But if you're not enough without one, you'll never be enough *with* one.
[Turns to leave]
Derice Bannock: Hey coach, how will I know if I'm enough?
Irv: When you cross that finish line tomorrow, you'll know

Roughly translated.

RC.How will I know if my MAF is faulty.

P When yer MAF is gubbed YOU'll know.

No power. Serious rev issues.Till then enjoy and zoom zoom zoom.

Pomeo

On the string thread...How do you dig half a hole?.

Also 5 years ago I bought 4 for spares.I still have 4 for spares.Perhaps that's the answer.

MAF is a curious thing, it can take abuse for years, or brake after a fiew weeks. Usually 40-50k miles is enough. Depends on how stars, moon and the sun is on allianse.
Been there, done that, seen it. Just served my 166 a new MAF today. And sparkplugs.
But now a pint of beer, or six...

And thanks to Pomeo for beeing here, it's fun to read Your expert oppinions, Thanks!

It's the fun and banter that makes this bit of the pond that more welcoming.
