ICS and /or Sat Nav Issues

My 1999 166 2.5 ICS was working OK until about an hour ago when, in mid Radio 5 live interview, it suddenly turned off and the screen shows the words

"Boot Loader 3.1 AR
Loader loading"

nothing happens. I now have climate control but nothing else.

Now this unit is a replacement unit and worked fine but because the sat nav never worked anyway I didn't have the wiring hooked back up when the replacement unit was installed. However, I can't even get a disc in or out of the disc drive in the boot now. It simply will not open or accept a disc. The little light is orange and on so I guess there is power to it.

Anyone with any thoughts on this?

The software has crashed and its a replacement ics unit again, this was the fault with mine when I first got the car and I stripped it down to see if it was a loose connector somewhere but I had to replace the ics in the end.

So if it's a software problem, by reconnecting it up to the satnav wiring, can't the software be rebooted from disc?

No sure exactly what you have done here paramedic but you sure have put me off my idea of sticking Pomeos sat nav into Tia.
i suppose I could practice on pomeo wie the noo ICS wie phone slot and see whats what.

IIRC They ur not backward compatible..So if your newer ICS had the updated software it will be confused by the older stuff input.Not exactly sure how it works but I took photos when updating pomeo 99 to 2001 ..Cannae mind what the boot loader stuff was but I had to do it twice as the first update failed.
is it a newer unit. etc

i'd have thought so to paramedic but check the clima dark info and see what it says assuming that is you can see it and its no jammed on the update screen.

Its a internal software fault and has nothing to do with the sat nav unit, similar to a hard drive fault.

Well, the good news is the control unit now works. I disconnected the battery and left the car overnight. When I re-powered up this morning the loader stated loading V3.75 of the software and less than a minute later we were back in business. It didn't even need the ICS code. Interestingly the Satnav button, when pressed now asks for the Satnav code. As I don't have it connected this doesn't worry me. Essentially, I think the BIOS obviously reset itself and enabled itself to boot normally.

Glad you got it sorted, but weired that it wants a sat nav code when its not even connected?
