The only reason it's that big is so there's enough space to connect all the wires. The internals are just two large hybrid chips bonded direct to the alloy casing of the ECU. If you didn't need the connectors, it would be about 1" square.

Certainly some heatsink value to it, but mostly just to make it big enough for ham-fisted car mechanics to connect it up without breaking it.

I can normally decipher your posts (more or less) after 4 or 5 re-reads....but that last one has got me totally stumped. Can't derive any meaning from it at all......sorry.

I saw my latest acquasition,(Lucy..soon to be Brucy..a real brucie bonus) on ebay and walked on bye.
then Bogart of the dont blame it oan the boogie fame...see posts

http://www.alfaowner.com/Forum/alfa-...ght=pomeo+pink (Thoughts)
.
I went for a quick look undercover on the pretext of heading for an Indian meal..i did both cunning devil that i can bee you see,
the seller strated the engine and said I could take it a run to see what was what. i said no just pull the bonnet...If there is no ECU on the rear bank (oops are you still allowed to say that~) then I am walking away. lo and behold an ECU ib Situ...I said now to the satty navvy...couldnae see aries or arna so i ejected the disc.said 2000 so I was a wee bitty at that..Went back to look at screen clima dark and lo and behold arna jumped oot at me...Must have been the excitement the first time I looked and couldnae see the wid furra trees.

The seller thought I was probably the strangets customer he ever had had to deal with...Whit no drive the car ...He was real astounded when i said i trust you when you say it drives well....i was doing a ....(oops) and was only after the sat nav .
saw it had leather seats (memory twa..swoon smiley..i always wanted one of those..why i dont know coz once its in position that's it as they say.
Twas raining and dark the horrible night in December when i went to see her but the wheels shon like a Belisha beacon in the night. Braw refurbised wheels ..raises the question Why oh why do they only do the fronts.....But on the down side the Arnie Sharks dumped the full bhoona records and service histoiry which the previous top notch (oan here sometimes) and AROC member had taken guid care of hjad been binned by those plonkers.I just love reading the history docs to see what was what.
BUT she is no a full bhoona super...she has 6.5J 16 wheels...But thanks to the auld ebay I have 3 7Jx16's I bought by accident when I didnae ken whit eye was dayin....fall in the sewerage works and cum oot smelling o roses

BUTT I still have Daves facelift wheels in a neighbours garage awaiting my tardy wheel alignment saorty ooty which has been dealyed yet again BUT brucies wheels seem to wear evenly...so a shortcut fix the noo.

Hope this helps a wee bitty bChris...BUTT a sFrank Carson wance sayed..its the way I tell them.

Pomeo

Footnote..Fot MOT only a front spring and a rear caliper repair kit.

Do you mean the pic in Pauls post? If so, that is most definitely the engine ECU for a CF3. It may vary a wee bit by market, but my 2001 car is a CF3 and is pre-FL so I don't think it's possible to decipher engine variant by using FL as the indicator unfortunately.

could be wrong Chris but I think the F/L Cf3's are Euro4's....simple init.
