code system problem

After a 3.0 V6 engine transplant the code system key light is on.Car has no spark so i think its immobilised is there any procedure to fix this

Shiny,This wood have been a brilliant how to fit for Stu the Mooses Ooor Ain hains manuel hud it awe been in the wan plaice.

I thought that the code thingymahbobs wood huv worked in isolation from the engine so have a wee look at what eweve dun tay the wiring.


Ive just picture Sir christian Barnyard..the excellent surgeon who carried oot the first heart transpalnt in SA awe they years ago.....You ur up there wie him...Jist wondering if he hud awe his notes on the back of Embassy ,Capstain full strenght, Woodbine, kensitas etc etc etc FAG PACKETS.

have you kept the ECU from the original engine and put that on the new one?

The CODE unit is coded to the ECU, so need to be kept as a pair, or re-programmed to play nicely. Don't know about the 166, but the 24V 164 could be done as long as you have the orignal red key and the magic number IIRC.

If it is the CODE unit causing the problem, the CODE warning lamp will be permanently lit (assuming it's all working properly that is!).

Aye its no went to plan very much,especially wi them changing the wiring loom slightly.got two knock sensors that are no wired but should have still started.Nae idea why its no recognising the key and trying to get a decent auto electrics man aint easy most o them are thick,daryl auto electrics told me to scrap it,i told him to ram it.

still got the donor car so can try an ecu swap

I think that'll be your problem - a new ECU or CODE box have to be 'introduced' It's to prevent theft by just swapping one of the boxes....but it wouldn't prevent it by swapping both of course
