headlights

I have an issue with my headlights, well mainly the drivers side one. Bulb was damaged and kept loosing connection with the plug, plug was broken too but sorted that with a non broken one. New bulb but it doesn't work!? Tested bulb on the other side and its fine. I get sidelights, main beam and flash. Now the light on the dash only shows sidelights are on and not mains even though there on.

Checked the connector and its getting power!? Any ideas?

Dan

Functional description
The dipped beam headlamps are controlled by electronic Check device M45 , which receives control signals from the switches and controls the bulbs while also checking the various lines.

The supply for the Check device M45 arrives directly from the battery (maxifuse CENTR of B5 ) to pins 1 and 6 of connector C, via fuse F11 of junction unit B1 .

The supply controlled by the ignition (INT/A) arrives via fuse F1 of junction unit B1 at pin 9 of connector C: pin 7 of connector C is earhed.

The dipped beam switch on the exterior lights control H6 receives ignition-operated supply (INT/A) to pin 7, through fuse F1 of junction unit B1 .

When the lights are switched on, the command is sent via the stalk unit B5 to pin 6 of connector B of M45 .

In response to this signal, the Check device M45 controls the supply to the dipped beam headlamps from pin 5 of connector D. This signal energizes the relay R1, located in the relay unit B3 which supplies the headlamps F10 (left) and F11 (right). Each circuit is protected by a fuse in the relay unit B3 : F6 for the left headlamp and F7 for the right headlamp.

The right headlamp supply line also lights up the 'dipped beam headlamps on' warning lamp on the instrument panel E50 - pin 4 of connector A - while pin 16 of connector A acts as an earth.

B3 is located in the engine compartment in the right inner wing.

The hid kit was off the gtv so has 9005 bulbs, only fit the high beam. Have the h7 kit here but not fitted yet as I wanted to sort this first.

Excellent, thank you. Guess what I'll be doing in the morning.

This is the reason I like this forum so much, the fuse was the culprit, new 15amp fuse and all is good again! Thank you Paul.

True, but the inrush current on a big bulb is pretty high.

Manual and Elearn says 10amp fuse for F6 and F7 but there are 15amp fuses for other things in there as well.
