oh dear. did you manage to get it seen to after you reported the jerky changes and the red gearbox warning light? Surely that was a signal to stop using it until fixed??

Had the samething happen to me 3 years ago in my 156TS, turned out that the CV joint had broke. AA towed me to my specialist. Replaced for £150.

i was on my way to graham eddy motori to get it sorted ironically. well the AA have come and rescued me and it turns out the driveshaft is broken on passenger side.I'm not sure of the terminology but the big round spinning bit has come away from the rubber gaiter. does anyone have advice on how much it'd cost to fix please ? strange how the warning light was on, surely not for a driveshaft fault? but i reckon that explains the jolt coming down to 2nd gear

sorry i'm no mechanic, as you can probably tell. would it be good to get a whole new driveshaft?would that have all the cv joints, gaiters etc on it?
Paul- The red light came on the first time i put it into sport-mode and has stayed on ever since. it won't go into sport anymore.

Bad luck, but at least it isn't your gearbox. There is a driveshaft on eBay item number 260950967453.

yh i know i was so happy it wasnt the gearbox. that would've been out of the question to repair on my budget. been quoted 183 to supply and fit the shaft.
cheers for the ebay number i'll have a look

even better, i have a mobile mechanic doing it tomorrow for 140. he reckons that'll cure the gearbox warning light and the manual mode will work again when its done.

yh think i will do just to be safe.
turns out i only need the inner joint replacing not the whole half-shaft. good thing cos no motor factors around here can get them!
the mechanic reckons the faulty shaft caused the gearbox warning light to come on what do u all think? cheers guys
