166 Konis & Eibachs

I have still not fitted these yet to my car.. still in the boxes! in the lounge much to my mrs dismay!.
So will be doing them in the next couple of weeks.
My questions are
1) What bolts are likley to break and need replacing... part numbers?
2) Rear seats out.. and anything else?
3) Do I need to replace anthing else?.. all I have is the 4 springs and the 4 konis and their bottom spring mounts.


Just want to be prepared so I do not get left stranded waiting for parts.

the problem is Nacho..you wont know about the bolts until you strip it down...I had bother with 1 as you may recall.had to buy bolt and mounting.
Assuming,due to the nature of the job,you wont want to do it again..I would stick in new upper mounting and rubbers ,check the knuckle and bushes and would as a matter of course do the boomerang arm..rear upper

Having done the job in April, I would recommend you check out the bolts that hold the damper to the top of the tuning fork on the fronts, mine was stuck solid and so were the car they came off, so much so the seller gave up and got an angle grinder out and sliced through the driveshaft and lower arm. So I had four bolts all well and truly stuck, also had difficulty finding someone with oxy-acetelyne to heat them up enough to get the bolts out, insurance reasons apparently.

I was also far sighted enough to buy some bolts, not far sighted enough to check they were the right ones before starting,

So allow plenty of time and ensure the 164 is primed and ready for action.

I have fitted these too!Had no problems with fronts altough now realased i should of replaced top mounts too as they're clonking slightly!Rears were a pain to get back on!had to grind about 3mm off bottom corner of new shock to get to fit! Wasnt nessesary to remove parcel shelf only rear seats and seat belt mounts a 13mm socket and ratchet spanner will fit!..Good luck and wait for nice weather!u will need coil compressers and mole grips!deep ring 17mm spanner for top nuts!Be careful eh!
