engine management light oh dear!

Hello again

I sometimes hate modern cars and all the electrics! Today my engine management light lit up on my 2005 166 2.0 TS ,So a friend of mine had a fault reader and came up with the following.
1/ 02 sensor circuit malfunction (bank 1 sensor 1)

2/ 02 sensor heater circuit malfunction (bank 1 sensor 1)

What is the 02 sensor bank 1 sensor 1 and where is it? also what could cause this ? and most important what would cure it and is it a DIY job?

thanks

Given both those codes happening at once, first guess would be the connection to the Lambda probe has broken/come unplugged. I've seen some pretty nasty attempts at cheap DIY probe replacement...so start there as the cheap replacements usually require you to splice the wires 'cos they don't come with the connector. Probe itself will be in the exhaust, before the CAT, lead coming out of it, follow the lead to the loom. Don't have a TS so can't say more than that.

Don't get me wrong, I've used the cheap generic probes myself and they've working fine for me, but you need to do a half-decent job of splicing the wires.

Second guess would be my personal favorite, blown fuse on the Lambda heater circuit.

Third guess, all manner of relay and wiring related possibilities.

All the above are DIYable.

hello
had a look today at the sensor connections and fuses all seems ok could it be sensor itself ?
The car itself runs fine (touchwood!) So maybe might buy a sensor or any other ideas out there?
Thanks
Al

If I'm not mistaken sensor 1 is before the cat.

But do check which is bank 1, as if I recall well the CF3 TS has got 2 banks of 2 pistons...
