Thought I'd upload a few piccies...

Well, we had a decent sunny day last weekend, so I got my "new" 164 out and gave it a wee wash and took a few piccies of it. I then thought I might share them with all me mates on the 164 board...

...(OK, I just thought I'd post them anyway)!

Still plenty of jobs left to do but getting there. Just the small matter of an MOT when the weather gets a bit less "salty"!

Ta! Don't know how long they'll stay like that! There was a powder coating place just across the road from work and a colleague was having some wheels done, so I asked them if they wouldn't mind doing my cam covers, plenum and fuel rail! I then sanded the high spots off and lacquered them with some alloy wheel lacquer. I did a similar thing with some aerosols to my last 164, but after a couple of years, it started flaking off and looks pretty rough now.

One of my (very junior!) colleagues at work is into all that "beautification" of the underbonnet! He's got some little "rice rocket" with plenty of pink and blue anodised aluminium bits under the bonnet. He's already offered to try and make me a clear vacuum-formed Pespex bonnet for it, but I think I can probably resist! It won't look like that after a few months of being used "like nature intended"!

Sand blasted, then powder-coated red. Sanded by hand after coating to show the high spots up as bare aluminium, then several coats of clear lacquer from an aerosol. Don't know how long they'll stay like that though! If I had the money, I'd love to do them in that red crackle-sinish that Ferrari use!

well it is valve cover and since you did all job properly don't see why it should not stay like that.
Valve covers are not that hot so the paint should stay, only be aware of agressive stuf like petrol and brake fluid

Very nice indeed! And even the reg. suits!

I did similar about 2 1/2 years ago now, http://www.alfaowner.com/Forum/galle...age.php?i=8904 but in reverse -- highlighting the raised bits with a small sponge dipped in red oil paint (I think it was one of those little Humbrol pots). No other treatment, and still looks the same. I had done this to the twin spark the year before, and it doesn't show any signs of deterioration either. The previous comments about any spillages applies!
