Heated Seat,Fuel consumption,166

Normally I use 25-27 mpg in town but in the past few days noticed it is reduced to 22-24 mpg, only thing different is leaving my heated seat on more could that be the cause of more fuel consumption?

Which way was the wind blowing? there are many small factors which can affect the fuel consumption, tyre pressure, air con, window open etc

Seems unlikely. It's true that heated seats consume a fair bit of power, but (and this is a wild guess!) I wouldn't have thought that one heated seat would consume more than (say) headlights plus fog lights. Has the traffic been heavier than usual?

Perhaps your thermostat need replacing - temp should be on, or just under 90. Mine gave up last year, resulting in higher fuel consumption.

I replaced my thermostat last month and now i notice a little better gas mileage. Remember that we that own and drive 166s dont do so to save gasoline. Sure we should not waste gas by driving with a "heavy foot" on the gas pedal. Make sure you have got the correct air pressure in your tires and that your car is tuned-up right and you will be ok. Your motor temp should be at 90 after driving about 5min in -5 weather, if not change your thermostat and as a plus you will warm up the inside of your car faster and thats nice.

Aryan you dont need a Alfa service center to change your thermostat you just need a good car service center to change it because its a "no big deal job". Thats what i did and payed 70EURO including vat. The 70EURO did not include the thermostat.
