Re: Alfa Romeo 166 Production Figures
Interesting but obviously flawed only two 2.0 Ti's - no!
I wanted to know how many 3.2 Ti's but not listed - based on a lusso so obviously in the 44. Majority of 2.0 Ti's must be similarly hidden in 2.0 lusso figures.

That's all the information Alfa has, apparently! At least it now includes 1998 & 1999 figures. Re TS Ti cars, it could be the number of cars which were registered as such, ie. not including owners who decided to 'update' their cars with the Ti pack later. I don't know why they haven't shown the breakdown of 3.2 Ti cars, though . I'm not going to spend another 6 months trying to find out why

Cheers Tony
Ti not an upgrade but factory fit - Wheels, suspension, seat stitching, dashboard, sill plates etc.

Yeah, I'm aware of that, Dougie. The point I was making is that there are people who have fitted the same items to non-Ti cars and then badged them as such. One of the guys on this forum did it with a Sportronic! Obviously, such cars are not 'real' Ti models, even if they have the same spec., and are therefore not included in any Ti sales figures at Alfa.
Did Alfa sell more than 2 TS Ti cars? Maybe. Maybe not. I suspect that the vast majority of people wanting a Ti - and willing to pay the extra cost - would have gone for the 3.2 version...

Re: Alfa Romeo 166 Production Figures
Ok then I fancy becoming an MP and for practice..Where can I ge aTI badge for my sportronic and sell it on as a TI to an unsuspecting punter.
Dafi points out the small number of sportronics sold and with the leaky matrix doin a few in I wonder how many left.
As there are probably less sportronis...Where can I get a Sportronic badge?Soon to be rarer than TI's ...I think Daves are TI wheels or are they just facelift ones.

Re: Alfa Romeo 166 Production Figures
Well as there seem to be just under 2000 166 sold in britain I think that there will be under 1000 on the road now. I wonder if the DVLA would tell you how many 166's currently are taxed?

Re: Alfa Romeo 166 Production Figures
I am not knocking your quest Tony - I am just pointing out that figures are flawed in that no 3.2 Ti's listed but 2.0 Ti's are.
There was more than two 2.0 Ti's sold - There were at least three owners registered on here at one point and "real" ones cropping up for sale also.
No matter anway - Nice to have the table and in the great tradition of italian car production figures they are flawed. I did not expect anything less

It was but not in the UK which is what the table relates to.

How do we know they are 'real' ones, though, Dougie? . The only way to be sure is to check the V5s.
When you consider that, first of all, I was told that sales figures for '98 & '99 did not exist, then they suddenly appear later, you have to question the accuracy but I think it gives a pretty good indication. If only someone had access to the DVLA system, we could find out how many are left...

Vivians and at least one other on here were real as I saw the photos to proove it, ones for sale on auto trader at same time were also confirmed as real by photos - Surely nobody would go to extent of changing dashboard, sill plates and front seats!?
Unfortunately the V5 system is the most flawed - This is simply down to the registering dealer/punter filling in a form. My 3.2 was simply registered as a Lusso from memory. There are reports on here of Mito owners with V5 stating 147 or such, a Brera 2wd JTDM owner has a V5 stating 4wd and is paying the increased applicable road tax!

Unlikely, I grant you that. But possible. I don't agree with anyone slapping a Ti badge on the back if they haven't added the whole spec!

Yeah, that's stupid. It shouldn't have anything to do with what's written down by the dealer/punter. The chassis number and engine number should be used to confirm which model is added to the original V5.
Ridiculous but he/she should have gone straight back to the DVLA with the appropriate details and obtained a new V5 and a refund of all the extra money paid.

166 2.0 TS Lusso Ti
I own one. I'd be surprised if there are only two in the UK though. I know the car is rare, but surely not that rare!!! Still, it would be interesting to know how many there are out there. Mine is converted to LPG, like a dog that speaks Norwegian, even rarer!!!!! Incidentally,I've had my metallic black baby for 4 years and she's great. LPG returns 25mpg, on petrol I get up to believe it or not, 44mpg (at a steady 60mpg with cruise). What a car!

They cant even get the colour right on most V5's

I can't believe they are that rare....mine being 1 of 350, just looking on ebay and auto trader there are plenty of 166's up for grabs.
Oh well I guess they are not exactly common.

How could I find out how many other red 66 TIs have been produced ?
Before mine,I only ever saw another red 166 ( and it was a prefacelift one) in Ireland many years ago,but then, just a couple of days ago,I think I may have seen another facelift 166 TI on a German autobahn.
There goes my exclusivity !

You could try contacting Alfa. That information should be available but Alfa UK took months to deliver the figures you see on this thread and you still have to take those figures with a pinch of salt! I wouldn't hold my breath for a breakdown by colour

I suspect this would be far more common than any of the UK models, as it was sold all over Europe. The figures here are only for models sold in the UK and the diesel engine was never available in that market.

Just looking down the list, maybe someone can help, a '55' plate 166 2.0 Lusso, its not showing in the table, is it likely that its a car held over or a special import.
Either way, is it the last in the UK?

It'll more than likely be one of the Malaysian bound cars that were unofficially re-imported.
