166 Super for less than a grand!

I don't think I've seen a 166 Super for less than a grand (other than dodgy eBay ones) but there's one in Iridescent Aurora for £999 on AutoTrader!

Auto Trader UK - ALFA ROMEO 166 3.0 V6 24V Super

Can anyone help me justify to the wife why I need a second 166?

Cheers Stuart

Re: 166 Super for less than a grand!

Sadly they are going to be arriving at that price soon where you can take a usable car off the road just because it is convenient.

I'm wondering what is going through kens mind with his 166?

Oh buy the way how mch work would it be to get this nested in the engine bay?

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/alfa-156-147-1...d=p3286.c0.m14

To be fair it would probably make a 166 turly terrifing to drive

Have you found a thread that really helped you maintain your 166? Please PM me the link!

Re: 166 Super for less than a grand!

I would imagine it's a bit of a dog on the face of it. Quite depressing though considering I paid £4k (or, rather my insurance co. did when my 164 caught fire) in June 2007. I think a really nice one with all the right bits etc will still fetch a reasonable premium.

I know what you mean but I don't think you could really complain too much for £1K!

Yes, but that probably still only means about £3K, unless you're talking about a FL 3.2, which should be about £6K

Yes, agree that you can't complain too much for £1k but it will probably need that spending on it very soon. Still, could be a bargain.

I think you're right regarding the other prices looking at the current market. I guess bodykit, sat nav, CD changer options are all extras that are desirable. Should have the bodykit fitted fairly soon - now that was a bargain!

Re: 166 Super for less than a grand!

Has been dropped in price - Was over £1500 a couple of weeks ago. I remember mentioning it to someone on the look out but they disregarded it due to colour.

Have a look at it - Only way to check how good it is! TBH though the second hand dealers wont pay much for them and wont be prepared for them to hang around long so much cheapness expected!

Doesn't look like a super to me - it has no leather and no electric seats.

Leather was definitely optional on the first Supers but, you're right, it should have electrically-adjustable and heated front seats. If it's a 3 litre manual, though, then it must be a Super...
