Excited!

I finally have a complete bodykit for me 166 (second hand Zender side skirts, rear valance and spoiler with a Novitec front spoiler) and it has now gone to my mate's paint shop for, err, painting. I've had to wait ages to get this together! Once painted, I'm going to fit it all up myself to ensure a proper job.

It was interesting reading the post about side 'bumpers' and the little clips. Just ordered some new ones up in case of 'breakages'!

I think the 166 look the hounds genitals with a full body kit. Just in time for summer!

Will post some pics once all fitted up - probably in about a month's time as the paint work is being done as a favour and being fitted around other jobs.

Rockin' all over the road!

Re: Excited!

I think the Zender kit can look good in certain colours but I'm not generally a fan of kitting cars and especially the 166, as it loses the elegance and style of the original. Also, it definitely needs 17s or larger, as the 16s look really lost with the kit. I don't think I've seen a body-kitted 166 in grey, though, so it will be interesting to see your photos.

Purple was a bit quick for me. I have now seen a photo of a grey one

Re: Excited!

I did have their website here

APT

but it is 'under construction' and now in France, but there were several great pics of it, a 2.0 with supercharger, superb car.

Re: Excited!

Fortunately I've got the 17-inch Sport alloys which should set it off a treat. I wouln't consider it otherwise. That Spanish one looks great!

Re: Excited!

Only seen 1 grey body kitted car IRL, was on the 16s, which as was said, looked a bit lost

Nothing wrong with it otherwise.

Re: Excited!

I have 18" and I think that the ride is to harsh for them. I reckon the 17" are the perfect size for the 166.

Re: Excited!

im not a fan of the zender kit, personally i think the 166 looks better with the contrast of the black plastic skirts and lower bits of the bumpers, but it is quite an understated kit so wont look OTT, zender kitted 166's are rare and ill be interested to see what yours looks like when done, i hope you mate manages to get a good colour match on the kit.

I have every faith in him! He's a superb painter. Fortunately the car's paintwork is pretty good on the whole with very few stone chips and no scuffs at all. There are a few tiny dings on the doors but you have to squat down and look at funny angles to notice them. Now you know how sad I am, it's likely I'll get the doors blown over at some stage to make the car a minter. It'll nearly be a substitute for my beloved 164 QV that self-combusted last year. Now that was a minter!

I think the Zender kit sets the car off a treat without looking too silly. It makes it look a lot more aggressive and road-hogging which is what I love about it as well as how rare they are...

I thought you said you had 19s, Stu? They're definitely too big, in my opinion. Reminds me of that 'Big Foot' car which was on here some time back .

The 18s were fitted to some later, FL models and I suspect they're OK with the right suspension setup. However, just sticking them on a pre-FL is probably not so good.

Re: Excited!

i do like the zendered up cars - its quite a subtle kit and makes the 166 look pretty mean and aggressive without being silly. I think the front spoiler expecially improves the look - makes the front look a little less "sad" and more "mean" if you get my drift

Where did you get the front spoiler unkle?

Re: Excited!

Hi all just done a bit of browsing and found this site

Alfa Romeo Shop - Tuning, Styling, Fanartikel und Modellautos - Alfa Romeo 166 Tuning

some nice looking add ons for the 166 but it's all down to personal taste I suppose. Cheers

Where did you get the front spoiler unkle?
It was a Novitec one imported via L & M International (you can Google this site). I failed at every attempt to get a new or used front Zender spoiler. The Novitec one is a close match but cost more than I paid for the rest of the kit (rear valance, spoiler and side skirts)! I guess it'll be worth it. I just love them with the body kit!
