162mph in my 166 Super!

I clocked up an indicated 162mph (260km/h) in my 166 Super on the journey from Munich to Berlin on Friday .

It was a pretty horrendous journey, actually, but there was one great piece of road about 130km south of Berlin and it just opened up beautifully . The road was pretty flat, too, ie. not a 20% downhill slope .

The speedo had daylight between the needle and the 160mph mark, so I reckon it was about 162mph! The nav showed 152mph at one point but I was a bit busy concentrating on the road at the time...

Not bad, as the car has just clocked up 130K miles and still seems to be running very well.

bloody hell that's quick! What they like at that speed?

It was pretty stable, actually, but anything this side of a Bentley is going to feel just a bit scary at that speed. If anything goes wrong, you're creamed but I only hit the loud pedal hard when there's room on the road. It's waay to dangerous otherwise. For a start, the brakes aren't anywhere near good enough if someone decides to pull out in front of your at that speed .

Wow that is impressive. I think the sat nav is the most accurate for speed.

I've done enthusiastic driving like that for about 1-2 minutes. I was the most utterly exshausting thing I've ever done! Cracked my exshaust while doing it to.

I wouldn't feel secure in the 166 with anything over 200 kms..
I haven't been over that because the car is so light for high speed and easily wrong footed...
I have a maf problem too..maybe this is why !!!

Had my car at those speeds a few of times. And I have to say that mine feels pretty safe and stable. No worries car-wise. Most scary thing is the fuel gauge falling like a rock..

Yep, I've had that experience !!

Ive had mine down to 5.2mpg, and i think I could get less if the road was longer!

Id love to do that speed on a safe area! The cops scare me way too much tho! That jail material in the uk! On the plus side, its the only way id want to loose my license!

I estimate that actual speed would be in the region of 155 mph with the speedo error at that end....did you have sat nav, what did that say?

Gotta love the Autobahn

over 80mph the car's speedo becomes less and less accurate..
My 147's factory statistics say the top speed is 198kph, but I've had her at 240kph on the speedo..

just letting you know.. as stu_the_flat said above, satnav is most accurate

I have to admit I have had mine reading just over 160mph, on the clock, was too busy concentrating on the road ahead and behind to see what sat nav was reading but I would say it was about 8 - 10 mph out the sat nav, which is still not bad!

This was on a private runway of course!

I'd normally expect the speedo to be 10% out but the sat nav showed 245km/h, which is 152mph. That's round about what it's supposed to do. Even on the Autobahns, it's not easy to find the right conditions to do it, though. Not unless you get up at 03:00 and drive around in the night
