Subtle details game on the 166

I thought we could have a light hearted game of subtle details you have spotted on your 166, either pre or facelift model. We might discover details we have never noticed before!

I will start with one I spotted yesterday:

Have a look at the headlamps on the pre facelift 166, there is a tiny strip of chrome under each one. Never noticed it before!

Anyone else?

The negative-volume glovebox. -1.2km2. I assume the missing positive volume exists somewhere in a parallel universe. The rubber boot straps are damn good though.

As is the simplicity and intuative dash / controls layout, other than the climate control. (All we need is three rotary switches. 1. Temperature - 2. Speed - 3. Direction). No Audi festoon of thousands of small buttons and it also pre-dates any silly BMW iDrive (like a man chicken?) nonsense.

I like the pointless curve on the bonnet lid.

The little indents in the rear seats to tuck in the seatbelt clasps.

the way the interior light comes on when the central locking is activated rather than the door opening

Re: Subtle details game on the 166

I only drive on the motorways with the arm rest down and I only ever scan for radio stations!

Have you noticed the ICS sometimes displays the wrong CD track being played? Funny, the most unreliable part of our italian cars turn out to be a piece of german Siemens electronics......

do you mena when your changing form AM to FM? i seem to have a similar one: when i move from FM to AM it misses MW and goes straight to LW? but if i press it twice quickly to go the other way it does it normall and ends up on LW again! (almost like it was hard coded to like Radio 4 :|)

Possibly thats what the storage box on the rear parcel shelf is for?

Re: Subtle details game on the 166

what on earth are you guys on about??

I love the fact that you can't open the boot without either switching the engine off (for using either the key or the remote button) or using the handy button in the glove box
