not so good when you have three kids, also one not so good feature is the lack of a three point centre belt, still if they are not fitted, it does not distract the eye from that cream leather

Speaking of subtle details. What hides behind this little thingy? (right next to the steering wheel column, nicked the photo from Stu's cruise control thread)

Re: Subtle details game on the 166

I think that the best thing about the 166 is how soild she is.

When your working on her you never lift a panel and think "Oh my god"

Its always high quilty steel ready to cut you hands to bits

Re: Subtle details game on the 166

one new one I found today

when rewinding a cassette, (well the CD player spits out copies) the unit is silent, move the volume control up or down a bit and the radio comes on until the rewind has finished, then it goes back to cassette.

Only had it 18 months before I found that out.

my cassettes still sound better than my daughters iPod thingy, and I don't have to pull my car apart to use them either

Pomeo has this condition too Addey. Has been like that when I bought her. I guess the immobiliser bitty only works to start her ..after she is running ...Who needs a key

However every cloud as they say....A brilliant feature when you only get 1 key with the car.

Re: Subtle details game on the 166

even the missus' corsa does that

I love the wee momo badge that's very discreetly placed on the side of the seats...only people in the know see it

The way the join line between the front bumper and the wing continues down the side of the car with that amazing crease.

Re: Subtle details game on the 166

I noticed this today. Have a look at the rev counter and speedo. The revcounter is set slightly higher than the speedo. Look from the side and you will see it.

Its as if Alfa want your eyes to focus on the rev counter first!

I like the fuel cap on a string.

I have mastered the art of applying the handbrake without pulling up the console.

The way the boot opens and swings out on cantilevers for maximum opening, no way an Italian designed that.....

Re: Subtle details game on the 166

how about this for a anorak detail...the way that the light from the needle on the guages reflect on their chrome bezels when driving at night...I'm sure its not intentional just a nice benefit !

I actually had to go to my car and look for that, very very subtle, but there all the same!

Is it? mine isn't, the top of it is neatly desgined to fit in the top of the fuel cap door (upside down) which in it's self goes as a subtle detail

Oooh, didn't know that - will have to check when I next fill up (which probably won't be long )

Re: Subtle details game on the 166

the cap on a string (or bit of plastic as it actually is!) came around 2001 i think - probably when the CF3 cars came in...
