upgrading to sat nav..

i have a 166 with the CD player, but no sat nav. That little button that when pushed says 'navigation system not available' really bugs me, is there any way of upgrading to the sat nav system?

Re: upgrading to sat nav..

not readily, comments on here are that its old fashioned, slow and expensive compared to the £150 TomTom type option. Niall is yer man to see how its done and IIRC it means ripping out the rear seats, part of the carpet, ICS, fit speed sensor, aerial etc etc

So not easy, not cheap and a bit disappointing when done.

Re: upgrading to sat nav..

Its not that difficult to retro fit, about an afternoons work if you have some mechanical skill. You need the disc reader for the boot, can come up on ebay on the odd occassion, the wiring loom from the ics unit to the boot to hook it up, a breakers is your best option on that, and then a gps ariel for the gps signal, I chose a small square unit that's fitted on the rear parcel shelf rather than the original on the roof, saves having to remove the headling and cutting a hole in the roof! Then just remove the seat, ics unit and centre console and lift the carpet a bit, as the wiring runs down the centre of the car until under the rear seat then to the near side to the battery area. Hope that helps.
