Cruise Control Acceleration.

Ive noticed this for a while now that pressing the memorised speed button really makes my 166 fly. Its as if the car has a mind of its own. Its hard to explain but im sure some of you will know what i mean. The car just seems to have an extra bit of power. I wonder if Alfa did actually program the ecu to do this?

Anyone else noticed this effect or am i imagining it.

Re: Cruise Control Acceleration.

I think it's because ot's partially unexpected and it's not you doing it so it feels different, I don;t really think it'any faster, my 147 is the same.

Re: Cruise Control Acceleration.

I agree with Ghosty - Just back from a big day out using CC on motorway all day, memory button does make it fly but I think it is down to the not controlling the increase which makes it seem swifter!?

Re: Cruise Control Acceleration.

I am sure there is an additional oomph switch in CC ecu. I always notice the massive power surge and so does the wife - she's not touching any pedals and has no idea its going to happen so can't be "biased"
One day I'll get round to checking accel timings with Alfa Diag for proof

Re: Cruise Control Acceleration.

mine does as well usually on the slip road join a motorway from another press the button to get back to motorway speed and sometimes it's quck to drop a gear and go other times it will slowly move and then all of a sudden drop to 3rd and fly!

Such a nice toy for the motorway is cruise control, even use it on normal roads sometimes when or a 40 or sometimes a 30, just getting old and lazy!

Re: Cruise Control Acceleration.

I have had two manual 166s - 3.0 & 3.2, I agree that it does seem that accelaration is swifter in CC recall mode but I assume that it is just using the STR programme!?

Re: Cruise Control Acceleration.

I thought the Sportronics automatically went into STR mode when Sport mode was engaged?

Sport Throttle Response - Button under the ICS on 2.5, 3.0 & 3.2 manual that changes the drive by wire and ecu settings to produce more response.
