Dilema and a question

Right, i have owned my 166 for 18 months, and love it, would only consider changing it when i had the money for a facelift....Wife feels the same in fact she had a nightmare the opther night that i had swapped it for a Shogun! no joke, she said in her dream she shouted at me "what have you done with my Alfa!"

However, there is a local 166 that has turned up, 3.0 Sportronic...Autotrader - ALFA ROMEO 166 3.0 V6 24v Sportronic
firstly is this anyone on here's Ex? and secondly this is where i bought my first 166 from.

so my question after rambling:

do I change for a (slightly(V for a W)) older 15k more miles, for what seems to be a fine example of a 166?

and if I do it, have i got some good bargain points my car being younger, less miles etc....ie looking for a part/ex with the bloke....maybe?

if the link doesn't work, look for a 3.0 with 99k miles....red....

Re: Dilema and a question

The super means its a six speed manual.

The super had slightly tweeked and lowered suspention. I don't know if it was an option for other cars.

Can't really advise you on whether you should trade in your car.

I don't like the black leather though! much perfer the lighter colours!

Stuart

NO WAIT!

If you want a nice car Quadcam boy has his super up for sale!

its got everything Even the suroof he has just done the belt. Now that will be one of the best 166's around.

Re: Dilema and a question

Why do you want to change? Is it the 3.0 thing? - Is your current one manual or auto?

Must be upto you but as said older and higher miles and as Pomeo says better the Devil you know!

Not sure if my 3.0 Super sold - Last I seen on Autotrader was at £3195 and that is a 05/2003 reg. with 99k miles when I traded it in 02/2008.

Re: Dilema and a question

yeah i think it is the 3.0 thing...and wanting to have the top 'o the tree one... current one is Auto and i think i'd prefer that.

I think it is the leaky radiator that started the ball rolling (although i do trawl through autotrader and ebay regularly!)

I did look for your old Super Dougie, but i think it's gone now (no supprise really)

I take the note on better the devil you know....and i think that makes a lot of sense. i just needed some views from people who are not emotionally attached to the situation!

but decided to stick with it (or waiti until the dealer reduces his price a bit )

Not emotionally attached
Not emotionally attached

NOT EMOTIONALLY ATTACHED.

WELL YOU CAME TO THE WRONG PLACE THEN PF.

My view I am afraid is relatively simple.Major problems not very old get rid asap....major problems very old..scrappy.......we niggles just sort it much to Mrs P's disgust.

Glad you kept her

Pomeo

Completely emotionally 166 detatched .Oh dear ive just switched the light on with my nose.(Italian puppet).

Re: Dilema and a question

I really don't buy the hole 2.5 Vs 3.0 thing. One has silghtly more power and slightly less economy. Personaly I think if you where to drag race V6 166s I don't think there would be much of a diffrence.

If you want to go faster then I think you would be better off lookng for a manual.

Re: Dilema and a question

cheers guys and i do love my car.....and the effect it has on people who say "is that yours?!"
I think i will wait out until i can afford a facelift one, then like Stu says(well he doesn;t but taking his point onboard and using it) at least it will be more different!
