166 2.5v6, holland, gas-smell in cabin

Hi,

I am new over here, nice reading about that much enthusiasm!
Can anyone, please tell me if you experienced the same problem as i have?

after filling her up with gas, i have got a real strong gas-smell in the cabin. Its getting even worse when opening my windows.

Thanks in advance!

Chantal

I would suggest a leaking fuel pipe in the engine bay - Check immediately, very dangerous! I sorted this on my brothers 155 last year - Was a very easy cheap fix once the perished rubber pipe was found. MPG improved immediately!

Initially I would have suggested fuel sender or pipe at top of tank but you say smell stronger with window down.

First of all welcome here I agree with Dougie, very likely some hose that's leaking. If it smells that strong, I expect you must be able to see something under the hood?

Could be the top pipe by the dog bone..They move with the engine if the dog bone has perished and can get loose...

I assume you mean a petrol smell as you "filled up with gas". I cant help you with that but if you actually mean a sulphur smell like cooking gas then it could be your catalytic converter.
