More expense with the 166
Just got an estimate to do with fixing an oil leak which was apparently the transmission seal between that and the engine was split or bust and was draining power steering fluid (so not engine oil). Was told had to remove the engine so asked to get the cambelt, tentioners and water pump replaced, all up NZ$3645.00 OUCH!! approximately GBP1420.00, looks like will be keeping the Alfa a while to recover the costs!
below estimates are in NZ dollars. NZ$1 = 39P
Estimates confirmed:
Cambelt $227.69
Tensioner $426.01
Idler $187.52
Idler2 $187.52
Water pump $352.10 (they have changed design to metal)
Coolant $35
Freight $15
Labour $650
Total $2140+GST / $2408 incl Gst
+ Cam seals x4 at $20 ea & crank seal front main $60 total extra $140 recommended at same time.
Power steering pump overhaul should be a cheap job around $200 + removal & replacement around $90
Rear main oil seal requires removing engine & splitting gearbox from engine
Labour $1265 (of which much is doubled up with cam belt job & would reduce by about $420 if both jobs done at same time).
Seal $70
Misc $70
So $960+GST on top of cambelt job.
