final blow in 166 short ownership

After taking it in last tuesday to replace a knock sensor, got a call
from my mechanic telling me the crank seals and cranks are gone..
[ strange tapety noise I've been hearing and metallic rattle on cold starts]..
Weird I thought at 43.000 kms....Nevertheless, engine was stripped and we found Mercedes seals and not Alfa..[ local ingenuity]..
Car is finally ready today after 10 days, new cranks, seals, repair the radiator, new oil in gear, new engine mount, new pulley for cam belt[ supposidly this was done last september] and the car has to be run in now for 300 miles before another oil and filter change and steering geometry to be done...All in all USD 1500 for the job lot.....
Hoping to have an almost new car now..but who knows ????

The photos of your car look great! You paid $1500 for all that work! I paid about the same just to get my timing belt, water pump and spark plugs done.

Next time I need any work done on my car I'm driving to Beirut!

Can understand how all that work could get you down hopfuly now you are out of the forest.

great looking car with the Zenders and 17in alloys.

Price wise, in UK we would be charged double for a poor job.
