MOT Time!

Well it failed, thought it would.

Don't think it's too bad, nearside front wishbone, off side rear lower hub bearing (why didn't I do them both!!! ) and nearside rear brake binding is an advisery.

Getting the oil and filter changed as well, will let you know how much it costs!

Re: MOT Time!

Lucky you, my MOT was today and......

1. Split rack gaiter and one CV joint gaiter.
2. Exhaust blowing in middle and rear sections (they sealed them to get through the MOT but it needs replacing).
3. OSR fog light inoperative.
4. Both front tyres worn on inner edge.
5. RH handbrake scarcely working

And advisory.....
Both front lower arms need replacing as the ball joint have gone and I think they are not replaceable (or are they???????). Are they expensive?
One rear anti roll bar bush shot.
When changing the tyres, I noticed a split track rod end gaiter.

Well I knew about the tyres and I have two waiting in the garage and the suspension is due a rebuild, I may get the garage to do it.
I’ve been quoted £449 for a stainless exhaust (middle and rear). Seems a good price.
The fog light was a real problem. The bulb was fine so I traced back the wiring to find that the wiring had broken in the flexible area where it comes out of the boot lid. To get to this point, I had to take out the back seats (easy) and the rear parcel shelf (NOT easy). Now, do I get a new harness section (£44 + VAT) or repair it?? Probably repair to get it going tomorrow.

Re: MOT Time!

Mike
i got a pair of front lower arms off of ebay £120 DELIVERED.
the 2 rear sections from germany just around £250 with fitting kits too.
Laceys will need a sticky cv cover for mot in may as I noticed when doing the brakes.

I bought original gaiters from Alfa not to dear wrt copies.

MM let me list the number of wrothless things I have... They are quite transferiable if anybody needs any junk.

I didn't know the uni of strathclyde was open in 1976? (I've looked They don't have a big enough girning face for how cheeky that remark is!)

Belive it or not I'm relived the pomeo is ok. Or were you thinking that an MOT failure would be convent so you could aquire a certan 166 super?

Re: MOT Time!

My my MOT day by Pomeo.

Started of well. Baby pomeo and I went for a Macdonald's breakfast at Bellshil.

While sitting eating my mcbacon meal I looked over to where Pomeo was parked and in the brilliant sunshine I thought .Man what a beauty.
A man and his 2 daughters were entering the car adjacent to Pomeo and baby pomeo piped up " Damn They missed it"...Meaning their door didn't strike Pomeo.Boy was she lucky I was in a good mood. Sterike 2 Ouch dad.

The last 2 Mots the rear barake light needed a wee tap. See it works before taking for test.Tried it beforee leaving ...Wouldn't work Cold sweat...time short Quick fix 1 out of Lacey and set off.

Enroute I couldn't remember if I'd locked the house or set the alarm and said to baby you are old enough and I possibly could have left you as you really dont want to go for the mot BUT I would never forgive myself if something happened to you....Oh No says baby pomeo I want to be there when they slap the fail sticker on it........AARGH Strike 3 ouch dad.

Advised the tester anything wrong I want to know about it.

Well A ok until the emissions...Oh the battery is in the boot in this 1 isn't it...Yea but you can get the points under the bonnet but waht do you need the battery for.......The reply shocked me......"To get the RPM's"

What ? He repeated......AARGH I can understand removing dipstick and geting oil temperature,I can understand a probe on an HT lead and getting RPM BUT RPM FROM THE 12 VOLTS across the battery...never says I.
I can undertand pea and han soup from a chicken.....BUT rpms off a battery never.

WELL IT DID.

So passed emissions and he said do you want a copy...Of course I do .

Put my copy in the car and baby pomeos says "I bet you cant wait to get home to laminate that"........STERRRIKE 4 Yer out.

So it has been and eventful day and what a learning curve.A probe across the battery sent rpms to the emissions computer wirelessly.
So nthats 4 in a row with no major issues.....Glad I did the spring on the sunny day on saturday BUT should have done the bulb then too.

I'm calm now .Really happy but my undertsanting of OHMS law Laplace transforms and Nortons Law (Not the AV coz i haven't a clue about that stu...Hex expert) have bit the dust.

Just glad i'm out with Big Tv John for a curry tonight....2 in a row (Shenaz last night) Gooly i Kilsyth the night.Top nosh 2.

Sorry for the confusion guys BUT I'm in shock and not because the motor passed.
It's my undertsanding of the universe.

Aye Niall ...BUT HOW?
The tester mentioned impulse.....Like scotty on star trek ..I can only give ye impulse power captain kirk.
Said to the tester "Well I am glad we were both born when we were ..Pointing to baby pomeo I said "Imagine the changes she is going to see." Very few 166's and if I left her mine in prime condition she'd get rid of them and get a Vauxhall like her mother and brother.
