ABS can’t be switched off manually nor automatically unless it fails. (maybe only if you play with its fuse
) But it is true that braking distance on snow can be longer than by a car with no ABS. What is more important, the car stays under control.
ASR is recommended to be switched off in snow only when you use snow chains (or if you want to have some fun and you know what you are doing
Summer tires don’t have almost any grip on snow, I have seen somewhere tests of summer and winter tires on snow and even the worst winter tire had 6-7 times better traction than summer tire.
