1750tbi advice. Help pls

Hola peeps

So happy with my 159. Such a nice place to be but i seem to have a problem when the turbo comes on boost.
Its got a K&N filter on her, and aftermarket exhaust from manifold to back box, so she's a little noisy when you step on the loud peddle... but at first i thought i'd a cracked turbo pipe. Loud woosh kinda noise
Have had it up on the ramp, pressure tests, pipes good etc etc no issues. Test drive after cleaning all the sensors and she pulled like a train (I get an intermittent engine mgt code for the lamb sensor, think this is to do with the exhaust being non standard - plug her in, clear off and no worries).
Problem fixed... nope.
Sometime the boost comes on so strong then other times its like nothing.

Any ideas because i'm running out of them.
New air filter?
Turbo seems fine
Clutch slipping? Really don't think its this

Had a full service a few months ago at Autolusso, gear box oil, engine oil, plugs etc

God knows

There was a harness mod on the 1750 because a cable was too short for one of the sensors
leading to a dodgy connection, iirc.

yeah, first check loom for broken cables before connector of pre catalyzer lambda (on copper cable side;this is the one nearby battery, 6pin plug). on mine it seemed ok at first look, but then i noticed one cable insulation was cracked and copper inside already broken. loom is bit too short in tbi engines.

Do they have a recirculating dump valve that could be faulty?
I had a similar issue of intermittent lack of turbo many years ago on a Renault 21 turbo that was a sticking dump valve.

Cheers Ned. If I get time 100% she'll be coming back to you boys.
I'll check the connections as you've described. Could it really be that simple?
The turbo is working fine forcing pressure out and spooling up as it should.

Hi Ned, sorry to hijack this thread. Can I pick your brains please - would a dealer have to remove the UNDERTRAY on a 175 tct diesel on 24000 mile service please?

Still no joy with this. I've check the connectors as suggested and can't see any issues.
Any other thoughts?
Ned have you any free space today and I'll pop it over for a quick check???

Hi, did you have the original catalyser fixed on your car? Did you have the lambda sensor mounted?

Had to chip to work Ned. Will be next week at the earliest. I'll drop you an email.

All aftermarket parts where put on by the previous owner so I've no idea. Engine management light is permanently on. After cleaning all the connecters and checking for splits I took her for a fast drive and on boost faultlessly, but still with the intermitant noise, which sounds like a split hose, but it hasn't got a split hose.
Ideas?
The code on fault is for the lamba senser and once cleared stays off for a week or so.
