Bought a Brera 2.2...!
Result! After weeks of obsessive scouring I've finally taken the plunge - bought & now picked-up a '07 Brera 2.2 SV in silver @ 53k miles to replace our old BMW E46 330Ci for my missus...and bikes. Will post pics later. And it has the lovely blue / tan leather interior, in great shape all-round which a few I looked at certainly weren't. Dealer had it at £6795.00 but negotiated it down to £6500.00. And they replaced the cam chain with affiliated bits plus service at the NE Alfa specialist Alfatech who are right across the road from them in Whitley Bay prior to sale. Had new front coil springs, brake discs & pads last year so hopefully it's a well-sorted specimen.
And I've gotta say it certainly feels it esp on the long drive back from Geordie land - lots of people & press have slagged the 2.2 version off, I was really fearing the worst when I test drove it but no need to worry. OK it's no fire-breathing monster or as raw as my Alfa GTV V6 but it's far more responsive than I imagined, loves to rev, feels pokey & not a bad sound neither for a 4-cyl GM derived lump. I think too many people are trying to bracket it as sports car which it isn't, it's a GT ... and a proper comfy one at that. And it's a lovely place to be inside. Plus no rattles or squeaks! The increase in quality compared to Alfa's of my past is plain to feel & see, it feels proper solid which surprised me.
I have felt the notorious hesitation though (again not as bad as I'd imagined) so just ordered the Autodelta air filter & will be booking a visit to Gus at Alfatune in the next few weeks - he quoted £450.00 for the re-map.
Many many thanks to all on here for the tips, guides etc. Invaluable.
