Boring alloy blocks can easily lead to cracking the block, it's safer to just get a 3.6 gm block which don't cost much anyway. If you use an LLT or LFX gm v6 block, with the alfa heads, intake and exhaust manifolds, and alfa sump, then i think it should bolt right in, it would just need a tune. The previous alloy gm v6 was called the LY7 i think, which had slightly shorter rods and a bit less compression, which means less power in n/a form, but it might work better with the supercharger?
There was a thread on using gm 3.6 engines, you could search for it.
Keep an eye on alfabreraq4's lightening thread, he's probably going to remove 200kg, and heaps of that from the front end of his brera!
Jbsmith has done a lot of work turning his diesel brera into a race car, it would be worth checking out his build thread just for the suspension and brake work!
