Help 159 2.2 JTS Jerky Throttle

Hello All
I own a 2007 159 2.2 JTS. Problem is upon pull away I find the accelerator very jerky. It seems to die first, then take off like a rocket. It is almost impossible to rev the car to say 1700rpm and hold it there. With minute throttle movement, revs increases from about 1000rpm to 2000rpm. What I'm saying is accelerator is not linear. I had it in to dealer who checked diagnostics, plugs, etc. Nothing found. He mentioned throttle is not adjustable as it's electronic.
PLEASE help!
Kind regards

Re: 159 2.2 JTS Jerky Throttle

Same here. All 2.2's are the same. Only cure is a re nap like Nev had on his Brera. You do get used to it though and learn to drive around it!

I have the same problem, this week I've just filled up with shell v-power and the car seems to pick up smoother.

Re: 159 2.2 JTS Jerky Throttle

It was the same with mine when new, but isn't a problem anymore, because . .

- it gets a lot smoother by-and-by
- i guess you also istinctively learn how to treat it
- once the car is run in, you shouldn't really ever be in that rev range!

The reason for it might be the direct injection. According to Alfa there are two modes: a mode to save fuel and a mode to gain power. If I remember correctly at about 1500 rpm it changes from fuel saving mode to power mode.
