Battery/Car Advice

Morning Guys

Ive searched the forum and cant find anything similar to this.

Im after a bit of advice on my 159 battery and use etc.

Unfortunately i havent been able to use my beloved car for around 8 weeks due to breaking my ankle.

Understandably in that time the battery has died a few times completely which means I lose the alarm and basically all electrical systems.

Ive recharged the battery a few times and sat in it and started and allowed it to tick over for 10mins but it is still dying.

Anyway my question is, what would you suggest I do with it while im out of action to avoid damaging the car and ruining the battery?

I should add that no one else has access to my car and I would ideally like to access it from time to time to get items that are in the boot etc. I can live without the alarm being on but cant find how to just lock it without the alarm at all

Anyway, any advice would be greatly appreciated

Provided the frequent total discharging hasn't damaged your battery you have two choices:-

1) disconnect your battery each time the car will be left for extended periods.
2) connect an "intelligent" (sometimes called "smart") charger. Provided your battery is in good health you can connect this with the battery fitted to the car. If your battery is flat you MUST disconnect it from the car for initial recharging.

Both Optimate and CTEK do a selection but others are available.
