I have owned the 2.2JTS from 8k miles, nearly new. Its currently 85k miles on the clock after 7+ years of ownership, longest I have owned any vehicle.
Yes, the 2.2 JTS has slight hesitation issues, but after a remap early in ownership and with time I have either got used to it or resolved it to such an extent its not noticeable.
As with all 2.2 jts engines the timing chain streched at about 55k miles and brought up some error codes. Replaced the chain at Alfa Workshop for £550, Inlet and Exhaust cam operating solenoids replaced and has been ok since. I now treat this as a service item same as a cambelt and will probably change again after 100k miles, if I still have the car.
Other issues, which are common to any car, I have had are:
Steering Rack replaced under warranty by Alfa - due to wrong Red fluid filled at factory. Now has correct Green PAS synthetic fluid and rack has been fine for 6 years.
Front springs broken couple of times and failed MOT(bad roads where I live + Alfa is front heavy)
Replaced MAF sensor/meter about 60k miles
Crank speed sensor error at 75k miles causing cold starting issues- Changed myself from Eurocarparts for £40ish
Had a throttle/pedal position sensor error about 80k miles - On advice from fellow AO's cleaned the connectors at both pedal and throttle body ends with plenty of contact cleaner and has been ok since.
Changed gearbox oil to Redline MT-90 to improve gear change notchiness, the changes are very smooth since over 3 years now.
Considering how long I have had the car, the smooth engine I would say I am happy with it. The car still looks 'relevant' alongside modern premium brands if you know what I mean.
