Outside Temperature Gauge

I've noticed that my outside temperature gauge is reading too low and also on here that this can cause issues with the climate control - the only problem I have noticed is that if I put it on de-mist the fan drops to almost zero which is odd but I want to sort it anyway. Reading on here it looks as if it may be a wiring issue but so far I have not been able to find mention of where the sensor is connected. Is it just the large multi-plug on the door or is there another connector hidden somewhere I should check? If the large multi-plug, how does this dis-connect. Looks as if it should twist but I can't get it to move.
