Retro fit auto lights and dim rearview mirror?

Any way of retro fitting one of these?

Would all the wiring already be there and just a case of changing the stalks and fitting the mirror with sensor?

I have to say I think this is not that likley. I have had that area of the car apart a few times and have not seen any spare connectors knocking about in mine whcih has no auto lights or dimming mirror. Also, the windscreens are different as well as one has an extra blacked out section for the unit to mount.

Most of the people I have seen on here with "auto" features on their cars post a lot about the "italian nature" of the items! I think if you want to look at an after market auto dim mirror your better off on the usual ebay trail for a generic after-market one. Given the 939 platform kills the lights when you pull the key (quite handy), thats a decent enough auto feature!

Good luck though!

Brera

Recently I retrofit the auto dim rearview mirror to my Brera.
Since my car already had the auto wipers and fog sensor,
it was a straight swap. Plug and play.
Indispensable IMO. Works excellent.
Due to the low roof, the mirror sits at eye level height,
you constantly look at the headlights from pursuing cars.

I'd like to fit a dimming mirror to my Brera, it has the auto wipers and i think a inside humidity sensor and has an unused wiring plug by the mirror which I hope is for the mirror, did you use a mirror from a Brera or from a 159, the 159 mirrors for sale also have the auto light sensor which as I dont have the auto light switch I wont be using.

The rearviewmirrors for the 159 and the Brera are the same.
The auto light sensor is integrated in the rain sensor
but you always can keep your own sensor.

How does the mirror assembly come off.? From the looks of the new one I have it taps upwards? I have tried hitting it upwards by hand and with a rubber mallet but due to it being mounted on the screen I am obviously wary of hitting it too hard, it has some movement from side to side and I have sprayed some plus gas inside the mount to help it but it wont shift.

It slides off downwards with a bit of pulling.
Wouldn't hit it with a mallet though, it's
very easy to snap off the fixture from the screen.

Yep it does slide downwards, it was very tight though.
Auto dimming mirror all fitted and works great, I got one from a 2007 159, well worth 35, the connector was there so a simple plug in.

Does anybody happen to know if the Spider mirror is the same as 159/Brera? Would quite like auto dimming.

The part number on a label inside my original none dimming mirror is 948156073557 If yours is the same then an auto mirror should physically fit it but you will need to check that the electrical conector is there, it is a white block conector about an inch square. It was tucked right out of the way inside the roof lining and wrapped up in black foam tape.
There are a few dimming mirrors on ebay from about 30 at the moment.
