led footwell lights

Im mulling over the idea of fitting some led footwell lights in my 159 s/w .

any body done this ?? any pifalls in respect of canbus wiring , and in the absence of door pin type switches
where can the wiring be connected in so the lights are activated when the doors are opened . ??

don't really want to start stripping out the interior to excess , as from experience this is when stuff starts creaking and squeaking etc .

Am getting tired or footmarks all over the place from passengers especially in the back seats .

any info would be greatly appreciated thanks .

If it's any use to know, the LED illuminated scuff plates from Alfa accessories I had fitted to my Giulietta are wired to the interior lamp next to the rear view mirror.
