159 1.9JTDm Inlet Manifold
I would appreciate if anyone has any knowledge on the following:
My 2009 159 1.9 JTDm (Engine number 6062583) has the usual swirl flaps issue. Having done quite a bit of research, it appears there are split views on removing and blanking the swirl flaps altogether. As I understand, the swirl flaps are meant to close during low RPM to increase the 'swirl' in the combustion chamber. Therefore, I am looking at replacing mine with a newer (supposedly upgraded) manifold. The newest Pierburg part number I can find is 7.00373.12.0, which seems to crossover to a Vauxhall part number of 55210201. My engine currently has the plastic type manifold and this newer number is aluminium...will this cause a problem or is it a like-for-like fitment with the necessary gaskets?
I love my Alfa but my old 156 2.4 JTD felt so much quicker, dare I say it, so did my MK5 Golf diesel with only 105bhp!
Thank you all for any information you may be able to pass my way!
