Half a freezing cold Saturday morning under the car and the left side wheel bearing is replaced, looked worn but by no means wrecked.
Out for a test drive, still have a horrible graunching noise on right lock.
Stripped the right side wheel bearing looks OK, but will replace it.
Pulled the right side drive shaft and found a slight amount of play in the inboard spider. On removing the gaiter, the lubrication ran out like thick chicken soup. I suspect it shouldn't look like this?
Pulled the left side drive shaft, gearbox oil peed all over the drive!!! What concerned me is that no oil came out of the right side???
Left drive shaft seems in good nick. Back to the right side shaft and noticed some rusty discoloration on the splines and oil seal area??
Called Ned at Autolusso.
Between us, we are suspecting the transfer box. Ned requested an oil sample for analysis. Going to buy new spiders, grease and gearbox oil, slap it all back together and take it down for him to sort the transfer box.
If it's worse than that...........It's scrap!!!
