I picked up a 1 year old Brera 2.2 (red) last week, after selling my 2.5 y/o BMW120D SE.
I have to say my impression after 1 week with the Brera is it is the best car I have ever owned. The ride is far, far better on the 18" wheels than the 16" wheels on the BMW, the BMW really had a very poor ride.
I would say that the build quality is better than the BMW, the BMW had loads of dash/door rattles.
It hasn't got the performance of the BMW, but that was a diesel, so you had the turbo rush.
Even though the Brera is 4" longer and wider than the BMW it is cramped inside in comparison and there is very little cubby space, but I knew that when I bought it.
Since buying it I've not seen another on the road, which is a big thing for me when you are spending your own money.
I can't get enough of driving it, its just such a great car.
Already I've had a few people ask me about it when filling up with petrol.
Alfa really have taken a large step forward with this car in the right direction, they now need to start working on the engines to make them more powerful and greener, this I think will be a big issue in the future.
BMW have definately got the head start in the engine department but I'm sure Alfa will catch them up, but for now I'm more than happy with my purchase.
